I’ve been meaning to relaunch my spiritual awakening blog for a few months now, but was waiting for the right inspiration. The last several months, I’ve been busy working for a company that designs water treatment systems, and waiting for insight and direction to emerge for my “new” blog.

As you can see, I have a new header photo (designed by my photographer and graphic designer friend, Anne’ Phillips). Besides spiritual awakening, I added “uplifting your life,” “living consciously” and “fulfilling your purpose” as the main themes. Part of this (slightly new) direction came to me from a recent, vivid dream …

Your Higher Self Speaks to You through Your Dreams

If you’ve read my blog or books in the past, you might remember that I shared some of my dreams. And you also may know that your higher self, your connection to the Divine, often speaks to you in your dreams. So, here’s a dream I had recently …

Around mid-December 2019, I had a dream where I was climbing a ladder to get to the top of it, where I reached a ledge. I got up on the ledge, which was only about 4 inches wide, and began pulling people up. But there was a problem: the people could not stay up on the ledge, because it wasn’t wide enough.

So then I needed to build a wider ledge. I dragged wood and tools up the ladder to build this wider ledge. I figured I should make the ledge at least a foot or so wider, so people could stay up on it, once they got up. I took a hammer, nails and a board and began hammering the board to widen the ledge. That’s when I woke up.

Is it a Coincidence, or a Sign from the Universe? My Hike on Tuesday

It’s been a while since I hiked. Years ago, when I was writing my books, I used to hike daily. The last few years, I’ve been working, focused on other things, and maybe like yourself, just too busy. But after a long break, I started hiking again on Monday, March 30.

On Tuesday, I went on another hike. This time, I said a long prayer, out loud, for all that we’re going through right now, for the best outcome for humanity and all of the Earth’s inhabitants. As soon as I was done with my prayer, I walked to the other side of the street, then noticed something weird. There was something under a huge log, a literal sign, and I began to pull on it. I couldn’t pull it out because the left side was stuck under a heavy log. So I bent the wires, so that anyone walking or driving by could see it and read it. I took a photo of it, it’s below …

Sign from the Universe

If you’ve read my blog posts, articles and books in the past, you might remember my article from 2008 titled, “Is it Coincidence, or a Sign from the Universe.” I’m not able to find it on Google anymore, it’s gone, but it is on the EzineArticles.com site. (I may republish it here on my blog in the near future.)

Does this mean I think everything is hunky-dory? No, actually, quite the opposite. But I do believe we are in a time (finally!) of the possibility of a great spiritual awakening. A bright and promising future is definitely a possibility, that is, if we bend the current trajectory.

Right now, things aren’t looking so great. But I’m not going to discuss here what I think about this “virus.” I have my own understanding, and have been suspicious of the mainstream narrative since day one. So I’ve been waiting for something really worthwhile to share on my blog, and yesterday I found that something.

Rather than me writing about it, I’d rather have you listen to the following two explanations, one from a decades-long health reporter (one of the greatest journalists ever, and he’s crystal-clear, too), and another from an insightful MD. I urge you to listen to all three parts of Jon’s audio, and to Dr. Cowan’s entire presentation. (The total time for both presentations is about three and a half hours.)

This short investment in time (3.5 hrs.) is really worth your while, as you might come to the conclusion, as I did, that you can now stop listening to and reading other “trusted sources” for insight into what’s going on.

Dr. Cowan Explanation

(On 4/11 I’m adding the following video as well:)

Professor of Epidemiology Knut Wittkowski

When you’re inundated with so much contradictory news, so much misinformation, you’ve got to listen to some voices of reason that make much more sense than the current popular narrative.

In addition, you’ve got to go within and activate your inner BS detector, follow your own inner guidance, and awaken to the bigger picture regarding this planet’s evolution. That is the whole point of this time.

Let me explain. Around 2001/2002 I went through a major crisis. I knew that no one or nothing outside of myself could help me through that crisis. I knew I had no other choice but to go within, deep within, and “figure this whole thing out.” The culmination of that work is the numerous articles and blog posts I wrote and shared, as well as the two books I published.

When you’re in a crisis, when you’re suffering, the potential for great change and personal growth, aka “spiritual awakening” exists. But none of this is automatic, and it’s not going to happen automatically. You must strengthen your relationship with your higher self, the part of you that has a direct connection to the Divine, Great Spirit, God, Jesus, Buddha. And you take it through, you go through the spiritual awakening process. You take it through to the end.

I don’t think we’re going to be rescued from this chaos. I mean, sure, it would be nice to have a large group of heroes working toward the planet’s liberation, but I wouldn’t necessarily count on it.

Why do I think this? Because from my own experience, being rescued is not part of Divine Plan. What’s going on is about the hero’s journey. Everyone gets to be a hero, in their own way. Because we all need to do our part in the Divine Plan.

Well, maybe there are groups of heroes, ready to fulfill their assignments, but they definitely need the help of each one of us, to help transform the consciousness of the planet.

Here’s another thing to think about before I end this post: “They” are as much a part of the Divine Plan as you or I. “They” are not pulling the strings behind the curtain, orchestrating the Divine Plan. Them pulling the strings behind the curtain is part of the Divine Plan, and they are also subject to it. The point is: Please do what you’re called to do from within, to bend the trajectory of humanity’s future!

Finally, I’d like to share from Dr. Cowan two things:

The first is, find out what it means to be human. And please, find someone less fortunate than you and help them out.

The second thing is “a Verse for Our Time” from Rudolph Steiner.

We must eradicate from the soul all fear and terror of what comes towards man out of the future.

We must acquire serenity in all feelings and sensations about the future.

We must look forward with absolute equanimity to everything that may come.

And we must think only that whatever comes is given to us by a world-directive full of wisdom.

It is part of what we must learn in this age, namely, to live out of pure trust, without any security in existence.

Trust in the ever-present help of the spiritual world.

Truly, nothing else will do if our courage is not to fail us.

And let us seek the awakening from within ourselves every morning and every evening. — Rudolph Steiner

The last word is from me: Remember, this is much, much bigger than (most people) think.

FacebooktwitterlinkedinFacebooktwitterlinkedinDiscover Your Life PurposeI was inspired to write this article by reading Tommie’s Spiritual Elevation Blog, namely his first blog post titled, “What on Earth Am I Here For?” It’s about his experience trying to discover his deeper life purpose by reading the second best-selling nonfiction book of all time, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? It reminded me of my own similar, experience.

The first time I considered the idea that each of us is born with an individual, specific life purpose was in the mid-eighties, at an electronics company on Long Island. I had just graduated from college with an engineering degree, and a new friend from work named Dave suggested I check out his church, so that I could discover God’s “will for my life.”

This suggested that everyone has their own unique and specific plan, and I wanted to know mine. (Up until then, I had assumed the generic Catholic view that it’s the priests and nuns who get to have special vocations, everyone else just has a job. And that God wasn’t giving out any special assignments in this day and age.)

Before Dave revealed this new idea to me, I wasn’t aware that God had specific, detailed plans for individual people’s lives. The idea intrigued and startled me. I thought perhaps if I knew my true life plan, I’d make fewer mistakes and avoid the disasters that seemed to haunt my life.

For example, I was disillusioned with my job as a process engineer. And I was trying to let go of a bad college relationship. And the old, used Datsun I purchased for my move to Long Island had begun to break down. Plus, it had also been broken into twice, when I left it at the Huntington train station on my way to New York City. The second time the thief shattered the auxiliary window on the driver’s side and made off with my main source of entertainment then—my knitting project. (The radio had already been stolen.) Then, as if that weren’t enough, during a heavy snowstorm driving home from work my car’s windshield wipers stopped working. So I pulled over to the side, and drove my car straight into a three-foot ditch. Luckily for me, I hadn’t managed to get too far from work so I could walk there to get help. Besides all that, I didn’t have close friends or family nearby, and I wasn’t comfortable where I lived. I seriously thought it was high time to do something about my sorry car and the sorry state of my life—get a brand-new car and a brand-new life, perhaps one with a greater purpose.

But, I thought back then, just because all this bad stuff was happening didn’t mean I was going to promise to follow God’s plan precisely. I didn’t know what God had in store for me. But I was curious and open, and I thought that simply knowing this plan would make life easier and more rewarding.

Some months later, Dave shared another astonishing thing—that he was intuitive and knew I would help a lot of people someday by doing something new. The idea intrigued me—helping others seemed so admirable—but I wondered how that was going to happen given the current state of my life. Well, I had a new car by then, but other things were the same.

Besides, I didn’t know anything about this new thing I would supposedly do, so how could he, who barely knew me? Also, it’s a little disturbing when others claim to know things about you that you yourself don’t know. You wonder how and why this information has been kept from you, and if it is real. You become afraid to hear more, in case of bad news, though ultimately you know it can’t be true. But Dave seemed so sure, so smug about his prophecy.

Anyway, I developed a passion to learn more about myself and why my life was such a struggle. So out of sincere motivation to discover my true life plan I attended a few evangelic Protestant services that Dave recommended. But after a few services, after rereading the Bible with new interest and studying a couple booklets offered to me on the topic of God’s plan for individuals’ lives, my enthusiasm fizzled.

For one thing, I didn’t seem to be any closer to discovering my life plan. Also, the experience didn’t lift up my heart, and I wasn’t moved. I must sound like an awful stickler, but I remember thinking that some passages in the Bible seemed to be confused, as if something were missing. Having lived through eight years of Catholic grade school with its daily mass and religious classes, I just had expected more. After all, as people learn and grow, they’re ready for more truth and more wisdom.

The other thing was, where was the sense of humor? Biblical characters—including Jesus himself—must have had a huge sense of humor to keep themselves from going mad, and this sense of humor was completely missing.

Anyway, after not learning anything about my life purpose through Dave’s suggestions I kind of gave up on trying to discover it through the Bible, or through religious books or services. Instead, I started to attend a few personal development courses. I also quit my job on Long Island and found a job in Munich, Germany for a while. And for the first time in my life I began to feel more free, more adventurous and open. And I put the idea of discovering the “life purpose that’s sanctioned by heaven” out of my mind.

That idea remained dormant until about 15 years later, when, in 2001, I again began to experience some major challenges in my life. This time I had a family, too: a husband and two small children. And this time I could not afford to be casual in my search. Too much was at stake. I demanded real answers from heaven. I expected signs from the Universe that could not be misinterpreted. And crazy, amazing things began to happen, and consistently, when I actually followed through with my inner guidance.

I wrote two books about what I learned once I began to connect to the divine and follow through with my inner guidance. My first book came out in early 2008 and it’s a memoir of my reconnecting experience. My second book came out late in 2009, and was a “how-to” ebook on the spiritual awakening process, including how to fulfill your higher life purpose. I updated the “how-to” book recently and put it up on Amazon earlier this year. I’m sure that’s what the Divine had planned for me to do (and what Dave somehow knew, even though he didn’t know the details about it).

The following are several things I learned about our purpose, in a nutshell:

  1. Humanity has a generic higher purpose and each one of us also has our own individual, specific purpose.
  2. Our generic higher purpose on this planet was to have a fall in consciousness so that we would experience huge challenges and then, by rising above those challenges by connecting with our dormant higher consciousness and learning spiritual and life lessons through firsthand experiences we’d become true masters of our lives. This Earth experiment / experience was designed to have a noble purpose: so that we would become as compassionate, as appreciative of life and each other, and as creative (in addition to other good qualities) as is humanly possible, as quickly as possible.
  3. Our soul plans our individual higher purpose before we are born (I agree with Robert Schwartz’ work, Your Soul’s Plan) but this plan is not set in stone. It is a fluid plan, and depends on the generic divine plan and humanity’s progress with it.
  4. Most likely, we have little to no idea what our individual higher purpose is, not until we spend some time connecting with our higher self and following through with our inner guidance promptly and consistently. For example, with a degree in materials science & engineering and a master’s in environmental studies, I did not consciously plan to write books on spiritual awakening. That came later, after I experienced some huge life challenges, began to seek answers from my higher self, and had some amazing things begin to happen regularly as a result of this connection with the Divine.
  5. The Universe will offer you signs that help you find your higher purpose. That is, if you ask for them and you pay attention. (Doing this can help you distinguish your higher guidance from your ego’s desires.)
  6. Much of the guidance you receive will be on a moment-to-moment, need-to-know basis.
  7. It takes courage to find your higher purpose and fulfill it. It’s easier to simply be a cog in the wheel of the economy and just go along with things as they are. It takes courage to make changes, even those that will put humanity on the right path. But that’s what it takes for us to become true masters, such as the master that Jesus Christ was.
  8. Keeping a journal and recording your thoughts, dreams and the things that happens when you follow through with your inner guidance will help you discover your higher life purpose. And as you search for your higher purpose, your life will become more and more interesting and significant.

After going through my spiritual awakening process and viewing personal as well as world events in a new light, I am happier, more optimistic, much more at peace, and have much more compassion and understanding toward my fellow humans, as well as myself. And I definitely feel better prepared to face new challenges.

I encourage readers to begin their journey today by strengthening the relationship with their higher self and gaining confidence in that connection. The rewards are immeasurable.

FacebooktwitterlinkedinFacebooktwitterlinkedinManifesting ResultsHave you been meaning to write a book or begin a health and fitness plan? Do you have an idea for a small business that you’d like to start, but you haven’t yet gotten into action with your project? How do you make a commitment to your project or higher purpose so that you’re fully empowered to get it done? How do you keep going and not stop at the first significant obstacle that presents itself? How do you become unstoppable?

This last weekend I spent in a workshop given by a successful, heart-centered, conscientious business coach in California named Bill Baren who shared how he made sure that he would go full forward, not procrastinate, and not dilly-dally, with a business idea he wanted to have succeed.

Bill Baren graduated with a degree in computer science and Russian literature from Stanford University. After college he could have easily gotten a job in computer engineering and made good money with that, but Bill wanted to go into the music industry and start a record label. However, this is not what his parents, who were Ukrainian immigrants who had known true poverty and struggle, wanted to hear.

So how was Bill going to enroll his parents into his project in a conscious, responsible, adult way, so that both parties would be empowered with it?

He decided to have a conversation with them and tell them about his business project. He laid the what, the why, the when and the how of the business plan all out on the table in detail. And then he asked for their commitment that during the first two years, they would not criticize him or talk him out of his project. “You are not allowed to talk me out of it, or to criticize me, or to nag me about the project,” he told them.

It was a two-hour conversation, but in the end they agreed he’d have a two-year no-nagging zone. And after the conversation was over, it became apparent to Bill that he had just bound himself into an invisible contract. “Holy shit!” He said to himself. “Now I’m going to have to make this happen! There’s no back door and no way out. There’s no plan B. Anyway, that’s it. I did not have a plan B.”

And make it happen he did. Within two years he produced an album that was highly successful. And then, like a serial entrepreneur, he went on to his next project …

Going out on a limb and telling others about your project is a way of making sure you stick to it, to make sure there’s no way out and there’s no plan B, to make sure you manifest results. In fact, it’s how I got my two book projects done as well. But my story is a bit different …

So what happened was, I was going through some crises at the time and attended a spiritual workshop that I thought would help me solve my crises … only as a result of the workshop I was told that I’d write a book about what love really is and how life really works here on this planet. And I was told that what I learned over the next few years I was to share with others through these books. (This was a channeled message from the Counsel of Light, channeled by Flo Aevevia Magdalena.)

Over the next year or two I explored the idea and mustered up the courage to begin this book, even though I had no idea what it was that I’d write about. Still, I told a few important people in my life that I’d write a book and that they could count on me for that, even though I didn’t know yet about what and was absolutely terrified of the idea. I just knew my mission had something to do with the promises I had made to myself and others in the spirit world before I incarnated into my body, the Plan sanctioned by “Our Father Who Art in Heaven.” I’d have to try to “remember” that plan.

I had a sense by then that I’d just have to follow my intuition, and I wasn’t going to give myself a way out. I did not have a plan B. The Counsel of Light had stressed that my mission was way too important to ignore and that I was the one who could accomplish it.

So I made the commitment, I closed the back door and moved out of a relatively safe situation at the time, even though I still didn’t know what I was going to do or write about. I did not have any clarity about my book project. And that’s because many of the things that ended up in my book happened after I made the commitment.

But you know what? My commitment was my biggest ally. When my Mom called me several months later to beg me to go back to my safe home situation, because she was worried and scared for me, I was able to tell her, “Don’t worry Mom, everything will be okay. I will do it. It will all be okay,” even though I was scared about that myself, as my book was yet unformed and so much more was going to happen that would later clarify my project. But after that conversation with my Mom, I realized I had no choice but to complete this project after all …

So it really is like that Himalayan expedition quote:

“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative or creation, there is one elementary truth … that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have believed would have come his way.

Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it.”—W. H. Murray

So don’t wait. Begin your book, health program, spiritual awakening, new business idea, or higher purpose empowered to manifest results, the way Bill Baren recommends and the way that worked for me, too. And while you’re at it, get my free spiritual awakening Quick Start Guide that will rev up your intuition and help you awaken to a whole new perspective about life on this planet.Share this

FacebooktwitterlinkedinFacebooktwitterlinkedinAyahuasca Spiritual ActivatorEarly last month a friend mentioned she was going to participate in her second Ayahuasca ceremony—which made my ears perk up. I had no idea what an Ayahuasca ceremony is like, only that it involves some kind of herbal drink that makes some people throw up and the night before, one could do a Native American sweat lodge ceremony as part of the experience. Since this friend is a seeker, always searching for healing and greater spiritual awareness (and is grounded in her job as the CFO / CPA of a small company), I was all in.

The other thing I knew about Ayahuasca is what my 21-year-old daughter told me when I said I was going to an Ayahuasca ceremony—Chelsea Handler has done it. (Chelsea Handler, I found out, is a hilarious TV talk show host.)

After registering I received instructions for how to prepare for the ceremony. This included eating cleanly and lightly at least the three days before the ceremony, staying away from violent movies and images, and a few other precautions, such as avoiding alcohol and prescription medications. On the day of the sweat lodge, only fresh fruits were recommended. No problemo, amigo; it’ll be a piece of cake, I thought to myself.

We packed camping equipment such as chairs, sleeping mats, blankets, and coolers with fresh fruit and plenty of water. At the ceremony site, we set up our tent and helped others with their tents. The people arriving for the event were open and friendly and ranged in age from their early 20s through their late 60s.

We were instructed to come to the event with an intention. I wrote my intention on the drive over: to gain momentum with my higher purpose and life.

The Sweat Lodge Ceremony

In the evening a fire was started in the fire pit and rocks were being heated. The rocks would go into the blanket-covered half-dome structure that would serve as the sweat lodge after dusk.

Crawling in one by one, we sat on the ground along the perimeter of the sweat lodge. Hot rocks were brought in, along with a pail of water. Every 15 minutes or so, new freshly glowing rocks from the fire outside …

The two leaders drummed and chanted Native American songs and prayers. We endured the heat and steam for an hour in complete darkness. My long cotton dress got saturated with sweat. The intent was to cleanse ourselves of toxins and prepare for the Ayahuasca the next morning. I enjoyed the sweat lodge and only got slightly uncomfortable the last 10 minutes or so.

The next morning, I had tea and a couple pieces of fruit. We took down our tents and packed them into our vehicles. The ceremony would begin around 9 a.m.

Ayahuasca—the Most Spiritual of all Herbal Substances?

About 50 people gathered with yoga or sleeping mats, blankets and bottles of water. The ceremony area had already been prepared: tarps had been laid on the ground, then utility blankets on top of them. Beautiful art blankets hung from clotheslines attached to trees.

I heard that we’d be on the tarp area for six hours. Although I knew the ceremony included the ingesting of an herbal medicine that alters your consciousness, I had no idea what we’d be doing for six whole hours. Chanting? Drumming? Prayer, Indian style? Role playing? I had no reference for what was to come.

Two leaders, a male and a female, and about a dozen volunteers helped with the process. We received the Ayahuasca medicine in small paper cups. It looked and tasted something like an herbal / mushroom expresso. Most people swallowed it in one gulp. I took four sips and got it all down. It didn’t taste bad.

The sun shone through the canopy of trees. Music came on via an audio system. I lay back on my mat to relax and take it all in. There was a bucket by each person’s side, just in case we needed to puke.

After about 20 minutes or so, I felt the herbal medicine begin its work. One of the first things I felt was a warm glow beginning in the center of my body near my rib cage (where the soul seed is). This feeling reassured me. Then I felt things shifting in my body, as if channels were opening inside my body and brain. I felt something shift inside and voilà—the sky instantly got brighter and the leaves on the trees became radiant with energy.

Within an hour I was fully in the process. I had my eyes open pretty much the whole time. I told myself I was going to be conscious throughout the process.

It’s hard to describe in words what I experienced, but it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life. I saw, among the canopy of trees, what I can only describe as the Interconnectedness of all life. I saw the web of life.

I Saw the Interconnectedness

If you’ve read my memoir on intuition and awakening, you might remember that the Counsel of Light had told me that the Interconnectedness was real. And you might remember that I had experienced glimpses of it when I followed my inner guidance and amazing synchronicities occurred. But now I could actually see it. I mean I could actually see the Interconnectedness; I could see the web of life and it was so beautiful. It was as if the tree spirits and all of nature were saying to me, we’re here; we’re here for you; we support you. Can you see it? Can you see the bigger picture and how we’re here supporting you?

I sat up and looked at the people all around me. They all appeared completely normal, no distortion there whatsoever. But just beyond them the trees became animated and the leaves dazzled and danced. It was a most interesting visual experience.

My Ayahuasca experience affirmed and confirmed my larger mission to help people strengthen their relationship with their higher self. The day I’m writing this, less than a week later, I feel my intention of moving forward with momentum in this mission is being supported. I feel stronger and I’m moving forward faster.

I did not throw up. Sometimes a few tears came as I witnessed the beauty of nature, the beauty of the experience, the beauty of humanity’s journey. I did not experience anything dark or negative.

Ayahuasca also Releases Toxins

Most people threw up, but not everyone. Throwing up helped release toxins, both the physical as well as the emotional kind. I suspect what came up for people were the things that were blocking them from feeling better in life, the things that were blocking their spiritual awakening and personal growth. With the help of the Ayahuasca, they could now see things with clear vision and process what there was to process. And once they threw up, they felt a lot better immediately.

I can understand why people call Ayahuasca the most spiritual of all herbal substances. Whatever is there for you, you’ll see it with more clarity. Sometimes you won’t like what you see, but you won’t escape what’s there. After all that puking, people felt and looked transformed.

Ayahuasca is like the proverbial red pill. You only need one experience like this and your perspective changes forever. And afterwards, you can’t help but want to have a steady connection with the Interconnectedness. You can’t help but want that kind of clarity. You can’t help but want to continue to strengthen the relationship with your higher self and feel the Interconnectedness working with you daily. And I suspect, strange and wonderful things are bound to happen in your life from then on that no one can predict.Share this
